The oddly coloured male earned a second of attention from her right ear before she pinned it back again. The gesture was not necessarily that of a strong stallion as shown by the lack of response from the grey, but it was one she appreciated. The younger stallion had some tact, albeit not enough to stop him from sneaking up on her in the first place.
She'd be more confident in her skill of bravado if it were just the younger stallion, but the grey put her on edge. The odd combination of buckskin and palomino was strange. She couldn't decide whether to be amused or fascinated. It was certainly different, eye-catching. She decided she liked it. If this stallion could ever entice her to stay with him, she'd be proud to be owned by him. She thought of herself as a good prize, and only a handsome stallion would do for her. She couldn't help but notice the scarring around his mouth. It was his only downside. An imperfection. Briefly she wondered how he came by such an odd scar before she turned her attention back to the grey stallion.
She put her own distance between herself and the older stallion, nervously lashing her tail. He was more imposing. The sort that might cause trouble. Kessa pawed at the soft ground, mulling over her options. Being scared of a stallion wasn't exactly a great start to a relationship. She'd happily turn and run but leaving her new friend? No, she wouldn't do that. She'd stay until Dilali made up her mind on whether to listen to the bragging of competing males or make a run for it.

Though he suspected Aleo’s question was probably more rhetorical than anything, he answered anyway. ”I’m afraid not,“ he admitted, shifting his position slightly so as to keep Aleo in better view, but made no other sign towards him. It hadn’t escaped him that the grey was certainly very handsome, and he was a mite worried about how he was comparing, especially when it came to how Kessa was seeing them.
Rezar had already marked her as the one he needed to impress, she’d already established herself as the more dominant personality of the two young mares, a rather sharp distinction from the more quiet-spoken broodmares that frequented the homesteads, and, honestly, it was rather exciting. It didn’t hurt that she was very easy on the eye either. In fact, both of them were two of the few prize-worthy fillies to be found this season, but be it because they had a closer match in colour or something, it was Kessa he was keeping an eye on. He had nothing against Aleo, but he would definitely be annoyed if he tried to take off with the two of them, especially since both the greys looked quite stunning together.

Kessa's body language deterred Aleo immensely; he'd always liked to keep good rapport with mares but Kessa's attitude put him off. He wasn't too happy with the idea of having a silver or palomino filly simply because they attract too much attention from other stallions. And though he didn't want to pick and choose between Dilali and Kessa, he'd rather not have a mare that treated him like an idiot, let alone call him stupid.
He watched Rezar, who appeared to be rather wary of him now, and felt quite proud that he'd established himself as the more experienced one of the two. By now he'd started to feel a sort of rivalry with the strangely colored stallion, as if whoever won this little showdown would emerge the better horse. Despite this, the whole endeavour was beginning to make him uneasy, and he started to wish that he didn't have to coax the fillies into joining him.
"Maybe it would be best not to get on other stallions' bad sides, hmm?" Aleo advised Rezar, but felt a little hypocritical at the same time.

Dilali kept quiet and watched the two stallions with interest. It amused her how they each had to show their dominance to one another. She noticed how the strange coloured stallion called Rezar was eying Kessa. Kessa in turn, Dilali noticed, was edgy. Dilali planted herself firmly next to her friend. "Where ever you go, I go," Dilali whispered loyally, "what ever you want to do I will be there beside you." Then Dilali turned her head to the stallions, Rezar's mouth caught her attention. "Does your mouth still hurt? Could that be a weakness?" she inquired slyly, she was interested to see where Aleo and Rezar would go with each other.

Kessa grinned, looking a little smug now in the face of what had been a unnerving situation. Dilali was going to stay with her! If either of these two impressed them, then she wouldn't be without a real friend. She lifted her head a little arching her neck proudly. She had to act as if Dilali and herself were too good for either of the stallions. If they wanted to impress, they'd have to work hard.
She looked between the two, wondering how they'd fare. Perhaps neither of them would do, or one would manage to woo one filly, but not the other and therefore forfeit both. Kessa nickered to herself, this was going to be fun.
She settled her dark brown eyes on the creamier male, watching to see how he would react to Dilali's interrogation. The direct question was forward, and she secretly hoped he would stand up under the weight of Dilali's insinuation. If his mouth was indeed still painful, it could be a disadvantage in a fight, something Aleo would know as soon as Rezar answered. That single question could push him out of the game, but it wouldn't necessarily let Aleo win. He still scared Kessa a little, his blunt personality and snide comment put her on edge.

Badu had had a wonderful morning, having woken with the mind to explore and venture further out from familiar lands. She had found large areas where the grass was good and had now found herself a gorgeous little lake in which to drink and cool her hoofs.
And such a big lake, she still found such a large body of water in comparison to dirty troughs she had grown up with so incredibly enchanting.
She trotted straight up to the water; single minded to her wish to feel the chilly water around her hooves, she whinnies happily at the crystal clear water and splashes at the water, completely obviously to the tension of the conversation nearby.

In light of the rather tense social situation, Rezar had let his guard to outside matters drop almost completely, so the little bay amusing herself nearby thoroughly slipped under his radar for the moment. To Aleo, he gave a nod of agreement. He wasn’t holding the same amount of importance to the victor of the day as the grey was, but he wasn’t going to take it lightly either, so, he again shifted his rump (inconspicuously, he hoped) so his tail caught the last patches of light properly and continued to ensure his crest remained curved. As ever, kept a watchful eye on the other horse, but now it was starting to feel unessesary. If Aleo was going to make a move on him he would have done it earlier.
Dilali’s question came as a bit of an annoyance to his current position however, and he was worried that it might have momentarily shown on his face. It was pretty obvious that what he answered could end up being significant, even if it was hurting, he would definitely not admit it. ”It happened a long time ago,” he responded slowly, trying to sound offhand as though the injury was merely trivial. ”Hasn’t bothered me since.” And, to avoid her asking any more about it, "Didn't catch your name, sorry."

Aleo's ears flicked back at the sound of water splashing and the tension of the situation dissipated a little due to the bay filly playing in the lake. He shifted his forefeet a little, churning the soil beneath them. He was becoming restless and wanted to end this little standoff, but he didn't want to leave empty handed. He had the most interest in Dilali, but he knew from her body language that she wouldn't leave Kessa, and Rezar seemed intent on taking the palomino.
Listening to Rezar's answer about his mouth only made him feel like he could beat the young stallion, but he didn't want a bad reputation from fighting him. As Rezar inquired to Dilali about her name, Aleo eventually grew too curious about the bay filly nearby and nickered to her to come and speak to them.
OOC: How did I end up the baddie? T____T XD

"Dilali is my name," Dilali replied shortly. The sounds of a horse playing in the lake caught her attention. After Aleo called to her, Dilali decided she'd invite her over too. Maybe this new filly could distract Rezar and Aleo for a moment while she and Kessa thought about what to do.

Badu look up at the noise of Aleo's invitation and shook her head playfully at the sight of so many others like herself, tossing her short mane back and forth before immediately approaching the group.
"Good day to you all! Isn't it a wonder? The sun so bright and the water so fresh and clear."
She extended her neck out in greeting as if to sniff and nuzzle hello.
