Dilali was happy to finally see Aleo's full maturity. She decided she respected him and bowed to show it as he and Badu left. Rezar, she was still a little undecided on him but because he'd finally showed he was a grown-up and not a colt she decided that she'd calm down around him. "Rezar, Aleo please let us no part ways on such bad circumstances. I do not apologize for my behavior, just can we put it behind us and part ways as friends?"

Kessa lowered her head as Aleo and his new bay left. She nibbled at the grass, ears flickering as Rezar spoke. Driving stallions away wasn't really a good habit to get into. But seeing as they'd sent Aleo away, it was only fair Rezar didn't get more time to try and turned their affections to him. Kessa, snorted, hot breath dewing the cooling grass as the evening drew in closer. "Unless you have anything important to say, then my friend and I would like to graze in peace as we were trying to do before you and the other brute charged in here."

Dilali didn’t explicitly say she wanted him gone, which was somewhat of a comfort. Kessa however was still going for the brusque approach; whether she meant it or was playing hard to get he wasn’t sure. Privately he was hoping it was the former, but he still wasn’t feeling too confident. Would sticking around anyway be endearing or just make him a nuisance?
”Ah, yes, well, I have to admit that wasn’t my best entrance.” he acknowledged with an amused snort at his own folly. Oh well, he’d know better for next time. At the time he figured it would be best walking out looking confident than accidently being caught after running into the back of another horse.

"I think that too," Dilali chuckled in agreement. She looked at Rezar, she wasn't interested in following him but it might be nice to have a stallion as a friend. She still felt Kessa's edginess and whispered, "Don't worry, if we don't like him we can part ways on better terms." she smiled. Suddenly a bird behind her shouted that Aleo was the king of the high country. Well that was unexpected she thought. "Hey Rezar," she piped up curiously, "what happened to your mouth?"

Kessa looked up from grazing, settling her sour eyes on the stallion. Didn't he get the hint? Huffing, she looked him up and down again. He was a handsome beast, except perhaps for that scar. She'd never seen one like it before. She inspected every inch of him, looking for more scars. He seemed to be perfect except for that, from nose to tail, from withers to hoof...
Scowling, Kessa peered at his hooves. She hadn't noticed before, but almost hidden by the grass on the very bottom of his hooves as a glint of silver. Pinning her ears back, her nostrils flared in a flash of fear. "Those are men's shoes! They make tracks as if you stamp every hoof!" She reared, turning and backing away. "The men might not be far behind. Dilali, quick!"

Argh, blasted shoes! He’d done a good job of sticking to the long grass until now. Kessa's panic quickly started communicating to him in that annoying fashion among herd animals and he felt sweat break out behind his ears as he flattened them. At the same time he made peculiar little start forwards as though about to race after her, but catching himself just in time.
”No, wait!” he interrupted loudly, ”If there are any men in the mountains it won’t be for my sake.” Hopefully now Kessa would stop long enough to hear him out. With a sigh, he gave Dilali a look as though deliberating how best to answer her, then looked back at Kessa. Questions where undoubtedly going to follow this now anyway. ”I...” - another short pause. ”I was caught in a brumby drive as a colt. I was there for a long time, but stupidity and bad luck meant I got into an accident. The bit-“ Did they even know the term? ”- That metal thing they put in a horse’s mouth. I couldn’t feel it any more so they let me go. I can guarantee you I have not been followed, and I won’t ever be followed again. You can sleep easy tonight.” He wouldn't anyway now, not after today.
This whole affair had gone dreadfully, so unless they gave him an excuse to stay any longer Rezar was quite willing to make his exit. ”I think I had better go...”

Dilali listened with interest to Rezar's story, she wondered what it would have been like caught in a brumby drive. "Very well, I think it is time to leave each other's company for now," she said politely. She nipped Kessa gentley to see if she would follow and walked passed Rezar and smiled. Even if she wasn't following him it was nice to know that they had finally gotten off on the right foot!

Wide-eyed and not truly hearing, Kessa was glad when Dilali made her exit. Rezar had not exactly turned into a danger in her mind. It was those silver shoes that scared her like any of the legless ones could. She wanted to run from them until her head and heart pounded and she could run no more.
Rearing, Kessa chased after Dilali and leaving Rezar in the small glade alone.
